[Bug 1191510] Re: Wifi disconnects every 10 seconds in WPA/WPA2 enterprise

2013-07-17 Thread Martin Schröder
It worked in Precise with internal Broadcom card. I didn't check the
Atheros stick. In Raring neither of both works correctly.

Martin Schröder, consolidating the report focus, which WiFi device
specifically works in Precise, the Atheros USB stick, and/or the
internal Broadcom?

I tried ubuntu-12.04.2-desktop-amd64.iso from usb. After installing the
proprietary driver, everything worked fine: no disconnections.

Martin Schröder, for regression testing purposes, could you please test
for this in Precise via http://releases.ubuntu.com/precise/ and report
the results?

I can't really tell, because I didn't use this particular notebook with
12.10 inside my University. Before, I had a different notebook and it
worked fine with all versions up to 12.10 (concerning wifi). (Then it
broke and I had to replace it.)

Martin Schröder, did this problem not occur in a release prior to
Raring?

2013-07-15 Thread Martin Schröder
I already run the latest BIOS:

sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
A17
03/07/2013

I updated the BIOS directly after installing Ubuntu (because of other
problems I had), so I can't tell if the Wifi problem was existent in
previous BIOS versions.

2013-07-15 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Martin Schröder, as per
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/latitude-e6520 an
update is available for your BIOS (A17). If you update to this, does it
change anything?

If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1191510] Re: Wifi disconnects every 10 seconds in WPA/WPA2 enterprise

2013-06-17 Thread Martin Schröder
I had problems installing the mainline kernel:

run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/header_postinst.d/dkms
3.10.0-031000rc6-generic /boot/vmlinuz-3.10.0-031000rc6-generic
ERROR (dkms apport): kernel package linux-headers-3.10.0-031000rc6-generic is
not supported
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.10.0-031000rc6-generic
(x86_64)
Consult /var/lib/dkms/bcmwl/6.20.155.1+bdcom/build/make.log for more
information.

I will try the daily saucy build with the most recent mainline kernel
and report the result.

[Bug 1191510] Re: Wifi disconnects every 10 seconds in WPA/WPA2 enterprise

2013-06-17 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.10 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.
