[Bug 119292] Re: [Gutsy] Tribe-1 won't boot after installing from the Live CD
Thanks for taking the time to test this multiple times. Due to the fact that this was not reproducable I do think that closing the bug is the best idea. Do not hesitate to submit future bug reports though. ** Changed in: Ubuntu Status: Needs Info => Rejected -- [Gutsy] Tribe-1 won't boot after installing from the Live CD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/119292 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 119292] Re: [Gutsy] Tribe-1 won't boot after installing from the Live CD
I installed the system again. This time I resized to a different size than proposed by the partitioner. The system boots normally. I do get an error I havn't gotten before: I still get this one: kinit: No resume image, during normal boot... But the wait time wasn't bad but then this error scrolls over the screen (10-15 lines I think): modprobe: FATAL: Error running install command for binfmt_ Then the following: [15.404000 intel_rng: FWH not detected and tons of the regular stuff and then the system boots up. So since I can't recreate the error on the exact same hardware with the exact same media after 3 reinstalls I might aswell suggest closing the bug report ...right? Re: [Bug 119292] Re: [Gutsy] Tribe-1 won't boot after installing from the Live CD
I tried reinstalling and using the resize function. This time I just used the suggested partition size instead of using the slider. After installation the bug I reported did not happen. Really weird. The installation boots and this comes up: kinit: No resume image, during normal boot... [15.404000 intel_rng: FWH not detected It stays like this for about 1-2 minuttes, then reboots and then the system starts up. I looks a littlebit like bug #102982. I'll try one more installation and see what happens. Re: [Bug 119292] Re: [Gutsy] Tribe-1 won't boot after installing from the Live CD
Though I think it's probable that it's related to something with the disk I'm not sure it's the same bug. All those entries I got on segmentation fault on the first install does seem a little bit more drastic. I'll back up my Windows and try and recreate the situation I got when I reported the bug. Hopefully I'll have something for you really soon. On 6/19/07, Brian Murray <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I'd like to make this bug a duplicate of bug 63175 which deals with fsck > checks. [Bug 119292] Re: [Gutsy] Tribe-1 won't boot after installing from the Live CD
I'd like to make this bug a duplicate of bug 63175 which deals with fsck checks. [Bug 119292] Re: [Gutsy] Tribe-1 won't boot after installing from the Live CD
Yes I understand. The only thing that could help is if someone did a complete Windows install on NTFS, used the LIVE CD, and during the install resizes the disk. Unfortunately I have a lot of stuff on my Windows partition and can't live without it right now. My timezone is GMT+1 (Copenhagen). The bios doesn't say anything about local time, it just let's me correct the date and time. Nothing more. -- [Gutsy] Tribe-1 won't boot after installing from the Live CD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/119292 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 119292] Re: [Gutsy] Tribe-1 won't boot after installing from the Live CD
It is hard to say why the first problem occurred with the amount of information that we have. Regarding the fsck - what timezone are you located in and is the system (BIOS) clock set to local time? [Bug 119292] Re: [Gutsy] Tribe-1 won't boot after installing from the Live CD
During the reinstallation of the system I've changed something since the last install: Since the harddrive was now resized, I went into Gparted and removed the linux filesystems and partitions so that there was only my NTFS partion and one empty partion. When the partitioner started during the installation from the live CD I simply choose to use the available free space to install in. After reinstalling it first goes into checkdisk mode and checks the disk, then this error ccours: /dev/sda2 has gone 49710 days without being checked. Check forced. /dev/sda2 * REBOOT LINUX * /dev/sda2 100678/3646496 files (0.1% non-configuous), 634818/7289493 blocks fsck died with exit status 3 The file system check corrected errors on the root partition but requsted that the system be restarted This system will be restarteted in 5 secons After a new reboot the system simply starts up. I didn't get any of the errors I reported before. So I guess the errors occured because of the resizing of the partition ... ? -- [Gutsy] Tribe-1 won't boot after installing from the Live CD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/119292 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
