This bug is still present in 13.10 Saucy. The problem seems to be because update-grub calls grub-mkconfig, which polls btrfs to find out the physical devices underlying the filesystem -- and grub replies with TWO devices, because it's configured as raid1. Boot-repair must be done from the same boot of the livecd you used to install.
