Public bug reported:

In the saucy code for ubuntu-release-upgrader there are some differences
as to what meta packages are supported by the release upgrader.

In data/DistUpgrade.cfg we see the following:

# the meta-pkgs we support
MetaPkgs=ubuntu-desktop, kubuntu-desktop, xubuntu-desktop,
ubuntustudio-desktop, ichthux-desktop, mythbuntu-desktop, ubuntu-netbook,
kubuntu-netbook, lubuntu-desktop

Some of these should be removed and it looks like at least edubuntu-
desktop is missing.

Then the error message from DistUpgrade/DistUpgradeCache.py only
mentions a subset of these:

            # FIXME: provide a list
            view.error(_("Can't guess meta-package"),
_("Your system does not contain a "
                         "ubuntu-desktop, kubuntu-desktop, xubuntu-desktop or "
"edubuntu-desktop package and it was not "
"possible to detect which version of "

Finally, in data/removal_blacklist.cfg there is another set of desktop
metapackages that should not be removed:

# blacklist of packages that should never be removed
ubuntu-standard
ubuntu-minimal
ubuntu-desktop
kubuntu-desktop
xubuntu-desktop
lubuntu-desktop
