This is more likely to be some underlying library than partman itself. I just checked the one machine on which the kernel upgrade went smoothly. The interesting part is the number of inodes on the ext2 file system on md0: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo e2fsck /dev/md0 e2fsck 1.40-WIP (14-Nov-2006) boot: clean, 36/128 files, 6514/32096 blocks So, in this case, partman decided to create 128 inodes, on the same hardware, using the same partition scheme.
