[Bug 1239348] Re: ubuntu 13.04 suspend fail

2013-11-09 Thread quixote_arg
I updated the BIOS and got the exact same result: meaning that when I
suspend the disk shuts down, the monitor goes to text mode (and I see
the cursor blinking) but doesn't turn off and also the power supply is
still on (i.e. the fan). I cannot get back from that mode: no ctrl-alt-
delete, ctr-alt-F* or anything but reset the computer

➜ ~ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
ASUS M2N-SLI DELUXE ACPI BIOS Revision 1701
10/02/2008

Also please note that I updated to 13.10 since the time I opened the
bug, I am now running kernel 3.11.0-12-generic

➜ ~ uname -r
3.11.0-12-generic

quixote_arg:

Were you using nvidia or nouveau drivers?

I'm using nvidia proprietary drivers, version 319.32

From where specifically? A Ubuntu repository or directly from upstream?

➜ ~ nvidia-debugdump -l

Unfortunately, that didn't provide anything useful.

anything nvidia related info I can provide from my system?

[Bug 1239348] Re: ubuntu 13.04 suspend fail

2013-11-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
quixote_arg, unfortunately as you are using the upstream drivers, you would
want to seek support from nvidia directly. The nvidia drivers that are
supported in Ubuntu are those only from the Ubuntu repositories as noted in:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia#NVIDIA_drivers_provided_by_the_Ubuntu_repositories

If you can reproduce via either nouveau, or nvidia drivers from the Ubuntu
repositories, please file a new report with those drivers installed
specifically via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

[Bug 1239348] Re: ubuntu 13.04 suspend fail

2013-11-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
quixote_arg, as per
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M2NSLI_Deluxe/#support an update is
available for your BIOS (1701). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything?

If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1239348] Re: ubuntu 13.04 suspend fail

2013-10-15 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.12 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.

Tested with upstream kernel v3.12-rc5-saucy, almost same behaviour,
except that the monitor did turn off, but the computer was still on...
also I was unable to resume after that.

[Bug 1239348] Re: ubuntu 13.04 suspend fail

2013-10-13 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1239348/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
