Not confirming, that works fine for me. Do you still have the issue? Does it happen only with gnome-panel? Does it happen with the list of applications for example? I think what the original bug report is saying is that font changes are no longer applied on the-fly -- now you have to restart Xorg to apply font changes. If i change font size i see the menu font size changing in Firefox menu but it don't change in the Gnome main menu.
