[Bug 1240794] Re: In partitioner 'select something else' deleting and adding a partition causes crash
I believe this can be reproduced taking a previously 'side-by-side' install as a base point: 1) Boot the installer with this as your existing disk, 2) Select the 'Something else' partition option, 3) Delete the root partition for the 'second' install (which for me is the first extended partition on the disk) by hitting '-', 4) Recreate this partition exactly as offered, selecting '/' as its mount point by hitting '+', 5) Attempt to tick the 'format' tickable. Ubiquity will stop responding and you should find the python oops in /var/log/installer/debug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1240794 Title: In partitioner 'select something else' deleting and adding a partition causes crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/1240794/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1240794] Re: In partitioner 'select something else' deleting and adding a partition causes crash
** Description changed: + When deleting and recreating partitions in manual partitioning where the + disk has many partitions the installer may hang when attempting to mark + the partition to be formatted. Resetting and restarting the install + will allow the installation to be completed. + + === + Attemptin a side by side install after using auto-resize (i.e. manual) Selecting Something Else then deleting the partion I wanted to re-use and returning it to free space. Then selected it and selected it to be used as / (other defaults left as is e.g. ext4...) When I then selected the swap partition to be used as swap. the installer crashed with the above attached details. This happened twice on the row; hence my raising it as a bug.
