[Bug 1241897] Re: Regression: Losing wired connection after upgrading to 13.10
Montblanc, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241897 Title: Regression: Losing wired connection after upgrading to 13.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1241897/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1241897] Re: Regression: Losing wired connection after upgrading to 13.10
** Description changed: After upgrading from 13.04, Kubuntu holds a wired connection for a few seconds and then drops it. I can untick "Enable networking" on the Network Management tray icon and then tick it again to have the connection back for a few seconds. That's what I'm doing right now to submit this bug. A workaround I've been using since upgrading is to boot latest raring kernel from 3.8 branch. - I also tested 3.11-rc6 and it seems to be already fixed in upstream. + I also tested 3.12-rc6 and it seems to be already fixed in upstream. $ lsb_release -a LSB Version: core-2.0-amd64:core-2.0-noarch:core-3.0-amd64:core-3.0-noarch:core-3.1-amd64:core-3.1-noarch:core-3.2-amd64:core-3.2-noarch:core-4.0-amd64:core-4.0-noarch:core-4.1-amd64:core-4.1-noarch:security-4.0-amd64:security-4.0-noarch:security-4.1-amd64:security-4.1-noarch Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description:Ubuntu 13.10 Release:13.10 Codename: saucy $ uname -a Linux balthasar 3.11.0-12-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 9 16:20:46 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ sudo lshw -C network *-network description: Ethernet interface product: 88E8001 Gigabit Ethernet Controller vendor: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. physical id: 14 bus info: pci@:02:14.0 logical name: eth0 version: 13 serial: 00:15:f2:af:bd:44 size: 1Gbit/s capacity: 1Gbit/s width: 32 bits clock: 66MHz capabilities: pm vpd bus_master cap_list rom ethernet physical tp 10bt 10bt-fd 100bt 100bt-fd 1000bt 1000bt-fd autonegotiation configuration: autonegotiation=on broadcast=yes driver=skge driverversion=1.14 duplex=full ip=192.168.1.101 latency=64 link=yes maxlatency=31 mingnt=23 multicast=yes port=twisted pair speed=1Gbit/s resources: irq:21 memory:cede4000-cede7fff ioport:c400(size=256) memory:cedc-cedd $ apt-cache policy network-manager network-manager: Installato: 0.9.8.0-0ubuntu22 Candidato: 0.9.8.0-0ubuntu22 Tabella versione: *** 0.9.8.0-0ubuntu22 0 500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ dmesg (only relevant stuff) [ 6633.242742] skge :02:14.0 eth0: disabling interface [ 6634.485208] skge :02:14.0 eth0: enabling interface [ 6636.924409] skge :02:14.0 eth0: Link is up at 1000 Mbps, full duplex, flow control both [ 6665.947766] skge :02:14.0 eth0: disabling interface [ .400297] skge :02:14.0 eth0: enabling interface [ 6669.122046] skge :02:14.0 eth0: Link is up at 1000 Mbps, full duplex, flow control both [ 6789.995899] skge :02:14.0 eth0: disabling interface [ 6790.690512] skge :02:14.0 eth0: enabling interface [ 6793.140683] skge :02:14.0 eth0: Link is up at 1000 Mbps, full duplex, flow control both [ 6838.467165] skge :02:14.0 eth0: disabling interface [ 6839.413877] skge :02:14.0 eth0: enabling interface [ 6841.878607] skge :02:14.0 eth0: Link is up at 1000 Mbps, full duplex, flow control both [ 6955.304511] eth0: hw csum failure [ 6955.304530] CPU: 0 PID: 3 Comm: ksoftirqd/0 Tainted: PF O 3.11.0-12-generic #19-Ubuntu [ 6955.304535] Hardware name: System manufacturer System Product Name/A8R-MVP, BIOS 0605 12/09/2008 [ 6955.304540] 880135cff162 880139b139e8 816e547a 880134d66000 [ 6955.304550] 880139b13a00 815ec43a 88007f724900 880139b13a20 [ 6955.304557] 815e5422 0246 88007f724900 880139b13a30 [ 6955.304565] Call Trace: [ 6955.304582] [] dump_stack+0x45/0x56 [ 6955.304593] [] netdev_rx_csum_fault+0x3a/0x40 [ 6955.304601] [] __skb_checksum_complete_head+0x62/0x70 [ 6955.304607] [] __skb_checksum_complete+0x11/0x20 [ 6955.304618] [] nf_ip_checksum+0xcc/0x100 [ 6955.304642] [] tcp_error+0x1b2/0x260 [nf_conntrack] [ 6955.304650] [] ? fib_table_lookup+0x2e6/0x390 [ 6955.304665] [] nf_conntrack_in+0xee/0xad0 [nf_conntrack] [ 6955.304676] [] ? cpumask_next_and+0x2e/0x40 [ 6955.304684] [] ? cpumask_next_and+0x2e/0x40 [ 6955.304691] [] ? cpumask_next_and+0x2e/0x40 [ 6955.304701] [] ipv4_conntrack_in+0x21/0x30 [nf_conntrack_ipv4] [ 6955.304708] [] nf_iterate+0x8b/0xa0 [ 6955.304716] [] ? inet_del_offload+0x40/0x40 [ 6955.304722] [] nf_hook_slow+0x74/0x130 [ 6955.304729] [] ? inet_del_offload+0x40/0x40 [ 6955.304737] [] ip_rcv+0x344/0x380 [ 6955.304744] [] __netif_receive_skb_core+0x646/0x830 [ 6955.304750] [] __netif_receive_skb+0x18/0x60 [ 6955.304756] [] netif_receive_skb+0x23/0x90 [ 6955.304762] [] napi_gro_receive+0x80/0xb0 [ 6955.304787] [] skge_poll+0x3a6/0x870 [skge] [ 6955.304796] [] ? native_sched_clock+0x15/0x80 [ 6955.304802] [] net_rx_action+0x11c/0x240 [ 6955.304811] [] __do_softirq+0xf7/0x240 [ 6955.304

[Bug 1241897] Re: Regression: Losing wired connection after upgrading to 13.10
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.12 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance.
