2d reply The apport-collect came back with you are not the originator of this bug. And I am not sure how comfortable I am at sending out a complete system snapshot, if that is what it is. Is there a way to run this locally and then send out the txt file? Re: [Bug 1257058] Re: low graphics mode boot error
Thanks for the info- I thought the unpopulated list was a bug because the procedure you describe is not that self evident. I have never seen an unpopulated dropdown list that fills in after you type something into it. Someone else classified this as medium priority, but it has a lot of people confused and in danger of being locked out of their systems. Now every time I do an update, I make sure there is no .failsafe file reintroduced before I shut down and my system runs fine. To edit your original post, click the little yellow exclamation point above the bug description. To edit the package you have to type a package name into the "choose" field, and click the small magnifying glass to get a list of all possible packages that include that term. Generally this issue is caused by a combination of a kernel update and your graphics drivers. We'll file this against the "linux" package for the time being. Please run "apport-collect 1257085" which will gather a bunch of logs and post them attached to this report so that we can get a better idea of what's going on here. ** Package changed: ubuntu => linux (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1257058 Title: low graphics mode boot error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1257058/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1257058] Re: low graphics mode boot error
When I go to select a package, the "select one" dropdown list is unpopulated, and I am not sure exactly what you mean by a package name. Also, I cannot figure out how to EDIT the original bug. I had to add a comment to correct an incomplete file name. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1257058 Title: low graphics mode boot error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1257058/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1257058] Re: low graphics mode boot error
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1257058/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
