[Bug 125960] Re: Regular users not allowed to run Configure Network Settings

2010-12-28 Thread rusivi2
Joachim Nilsson thank you for working on this bug and making Ubuntu
better. Performing a GNOME netapplet bug search via:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=specificorder=relevance+descbug_status=__open__product=netappletcontent=
yields no mentioning of this issue. However, a cursory treatment of this
bug indicates regular users cannot change network settings as
intentional for security purposes. Despite this, the next step is to
create and link an upstream bug via:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi and mark this bug's status to
New.

2010-09-18 Thread Joachim Nilsson
Sorry, but I guess you'll have to accept that there is s certain level
of frustration among reporters when bug reports with working patches are
completely ignored. Literally for years.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I noticed that the package version your bugging is
updated in Lucid. Please update via http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/
repost a detailed error report, and update the bug status. Thanks!

[Bug 125960] Re: Regular users not allowed to run Configure Network Settings

2010-09-16 Thread Joachim Nilsson
First of all, the approach you suggest is rather backwards. Is it
really up to me, the reporter and the one providing the patch, to baby
sit the patch and make sure it gets applied? Isn't that the
responsibility of the package owner in Ubuntu?

Anyway, gksu patch still not applied and network-admin is also a command
that has been removed in Ubuntu.

Also, for most users the nm-applet for NjetworkManager does the trick
these days, so I propose you close this issue.

[Bug 125960] Re: Regular users not allowed to run Configure Network Settings

2009-07-20 Thread Joachim Nilsson
None of my patches to netapplet have been merged.

I'm running 9.04 (Jaunty), but Karmic does not have the fixes either.

Patches are available from my Bazaar branch at
http://bzr.vmlinux.org/netapplet-1.0.8/ ... the web interface viewer for
that repository have moved to
http://bzr.vmlinux.org/loggerhead//public/netapplet-1.0.8

Thanks.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
