[Bug 1264655] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 does not detect my Win7 partition

2018-04-04 Thread Simon Quigley
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since
that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some
of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently
supported Ubuntu version. If you test it and it is still an issue, kindly
upload the updated logs by running only once:
apport-collect https://api.launchpad.net/1.0/bugs/1264655

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

[Bug 1264655] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 does not detect my Win7 partition

2013-12-28 Thread sebastian-s
** Description changed:

  I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 with a working Windows 7 installation.

I have a large continuous space available on my local disk but Ubuntu
13.10 installer does not recognise it and thus I don't have the option
to install alongside my windows 7.

+ I would continue with the manual partitioning but as there is no help or clue
how to use encryption of home I am unsure what to do.
+ Unfortunately

Encrypted home, is a checkbox at user account creation step, much
later in the installation process.

[Bug 1264655] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 does not detect my Win7 partition

2013-12-28 Thread sebastian-s
Dimitri, this is good to know, thanks.

What about the options to 'encrypt the new Ubuntu installation for
security' (which I thought is encrypted home) and 'use LVM with...'

when I have to do all manual I have no Idea how to do it right e.g.
encrypted SWAP.

That is Full Disk encryption, which is only supported in wipe
install mode, not in dual-boot modes.

encrypted SWAP will be correctly setup, in either cases, Full Disk
encryption or the Home-only encryption.

Dimitri.

2013-12-28 Thread sebastian-s
Dimitri, thanks again for clarifying. This helps me to proceed with my
installation and I feel asured that I will have encrypted home and SWAP at the
end.
The original issue/bug remains unsolved afaik.

Thanks, Sebatian
