Vladimir, thanks for this report. It's true that Estimating... is quite long. (Though it's not the longest thing that can appear in an indicator menu title: that honor belongs to your login name.) It's important that we show something more than just the icon, for people who are expecting to see an estimate there. Otherwise they might think they've turned off the estimate by accident. Once bug 1234458 is fixed, the Estimating... string will be present for 30 seconds maximum. I think that's brief enough to put up with it. And conversely, if we used a special-purpose icon instead, it wouldn't be visible for long enough for people to become familiar with it.
