You are scanning from the flatbed, so yet, setting # pages to 1 would
solve your problem.

Alternatively, in Edit/Preferences, disable the option "allow batch
scanning from flatbed".

Putting "gscan2pdf --log=gscan2pdf.log" in terminal opens gscan2pdf for
scanning. What is the "current directory"? Do not see any log file other
than copy/paste the log output in terminal. How exactly do I create a
log file attachment? Please advise.

[Bug 1268592] Re: gscan2pdf no longer launches in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS after ppa upgrade earlier today

2018-12-05 Thread Jeffrey Ratcliffe
By starting gscan2pdf with the --log=log option, it creates a file
called "log" in the current directory.

gscan2pdf --log=gscan2pdf.log

would create a file called "gscan2pdf.log". Instead of copy-pasting the
output from the terminal, please attach the file.

If setting # pages to 1 works for you, give it a go. Unfortunately,
until I can see more of the log file, I've got no idea what is going
wrong.

Yes, I did paste from terminal. Do not know how to create attachment
from terminal. I only see copy/paste. Here is another log report from
the most current gscan2pdf installation.  I think to overcome this bug,
one has to set # pages to "1" not "All." Please advise.

There is a load of information missing from the log file - did you paste
it from the terminal window?

Would you mind attaching the log file as an attachment, please.

[Bug 1268592] Re: gscan2pdf no longer launches in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS after ppa upgrade earlier today

2014-01-20 Thread Jeffrey Ratcliffe
I take it therefore, from the log file, that switching to the scanimage
frontend allowed you to quit gscan2pdf. This confirms that the problem
is the Sane thread not shutting down properly.

Do you turn off your scanner before quitting gscan2pdf?

Also, please confirm that you are able to quit when using the test
backend and the libsane-perl frontend:

gscan2pdf --log=log --device=test

[Bug 1268592] Re: gscan2pdf no longer launches in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS after ppa upgrade earlier today

2014-01-16 Thread Jeffrey Ratcliffe
Normally, the only thing that gscan2pdf does between the last line of
your output and actually quitting is to kill the threads and any other
subprocesses.

It looks to me that the Sane thread is not closing cleanly. Do you turn
off your scanner before quitting gscan2pdf?

What happens if you switch to the scanimage frontend (in
Edit/Preferences)?
