[Bug 1287587] Re: [ASUSTeK Computer Inc. K53SD] suspend/resume failure
Karma Dorje, as per http://www.asus.com/us/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/K53SD/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your BIOS is available (208). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs . Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-208 utopic ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1287587 Title: [ASUSTeK Computer Inc. [Bug 1287587] Re: [ASUSTeK Computer Inc. K53SD] suspend/resume failure
@pawel.jasinski I observed same behavior and independently arrived to the same conclusion. I suspend by pressing [fn]-[f1], then close the lid and pick up the laptop. Then on the other site I resume it from suspend. Case 1 : If the lid was closed immediately after pressing the key combo, everything is fine, laptop resumes when asked. Case 2 : If the lid was closed after a few seconds after pressing the key combo, laptop hangs on resume. After force reboot it says something prevented a previous reboot from finishing. Case 3 : If the lid was closed after waiting for the suspend to complete (power led blinking), everything is fine, laptop resumes when asked. I have been observing this behavior since Ubuntu 14.04 . Case 2 seldom happens, so I can't be sure it didn't happen with Ubuntu 13.10 that I used on the same laptop before. [Bug 1287587] Re: [ASUSTeK Computer Inc. K53SD] suspend/resume failure
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.13 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance.
