This appears to be related to the test for the upload directory on the target server. Just to verify, could you please attach the .project.screem file from the root directory of the site in which this error was discovered? Please be sure to remove or change any password beforehand, just to avoid any inadvertant remote access. From a look at the code, it appears that changing '~' to (gchar) '~' may prevent this crash, or it may be fixed in the updated 0.16.104.1ubuntu1.
