[Bug 1308751] Re: Transfer to USB drive slows down to a crawl
I noticed this slowness from Ubuntu 13.04 onwards. 12.04 was a lot better though no speed demon. From 13.04 to 14.04 the transfer starts more or less ok and then slows, almost stops dropping down to about 600kb/s, then speeds up again to about 3 mb/s flucuating up and down from 1.2 mb/s to 3 mb/s. Sometimes, it holds around 4 to 5 mb/s when it behaves better. I have also seen it stop just before 100% transfer, hang around for up to about 30 seconds before completing the write. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1308751 Title: Transfer to USB drive slows down to a crawl To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1308751/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1308751] Re: Transfer to USB drive slows down to a crawl
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.15 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance.
