Thank you for your bug report, seems like your issue there is that totem/gstreamer are using too much cpu for video decoding? ** Changed in: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Package changed: totem (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311402 Title: Totem playin DVD fullscreen causes CPU to overheat To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1311402/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1311402] Re: Totem playin DVD fullscreen causes CPU to overheat
I have run apport-collect 1311402 However, I had already removed totem from my system. I don't know if this will cause a problem with collecting the log files this way. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311402 Title: Totem playin DVD fullscreen causes CPU to overheat To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1311402/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1311402] Re: Totem playin DVD fullscreen causes CPU to overheat
@ Sebastien Bacher (seb128) Yes it seems that it is using too much CPU. However, running top shows that Totem is only using about 25% to 30% CPU, so top does not detect too much CPU usage. Also the CPU usage doesn't change much whether totem runs full screen or in a window. CPU is running in Conservative mode at 800MHz (36% of full speed). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311402 Title: Totem playin DVD fullscreen causes CPU to overheat To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1311402/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1311402] Re: Totem playin DVD fullscreen causes CPU to overheat
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.15 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance. [Bug 1311402] Re: Totem playin DVD fullscreen causes CPU to overheat
@ Joseph Salisbury No I don't want to test another kernel. I have simply removed totem from my system as VLC works without this bug. ** Tags added: kernel-unable-to-test-upstream -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311402 Title: Totem playin DVD fullscreen causes CPU to overheat To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1311402/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
