[Bug 131212] Re: [gutsy] opera slow down/crash when browsing a page with flash (non-free) content

2007-10-01 Thread Dax Solomon Umaming
flashplugin-nonfree 9.0.48.0.0ubuntu11 has been released with a fix for this Qt
bug. Both Konqueror and Opera should be able to play flash content. Please
upgrade your package. I'm closing this bug as Fixed Released, however, if you
still have problems with this particular bug, feel free to open it.
Thanks.

[Bug 131212] Re: [gutsy] opera slow down/crash when browsing a page with flash (non-free) content

2007-09-03 Thread csulok
I can confirm this. When Ubufox installs the flashplugin-nonfree, it
downloads a new package from the Adobe ftp, that seems to restore the
previous state of the plugin in Opera. (The previous state being that
the flash plugin crashes when closing or changing tabs, however it works
without freezing any part of Opera).

May I suggest a new build of flashplugin-nonfree to be issued so this
new archive from the Adobe ftp arrives to all who may be affected by it?

[Bug 131212] Re: [gutsy] opera slow down/crash when browsing a page with flash (non-free) content

2007-08-22 Thread csulok
i have found a workaround to the problem:

downgrade libgtk2.0-0 from the candidate 2.11.6-1ubuntu3 to
2.10.11-0ubuntu3, and restart Opera.

wget
http://ubuntu.dlf.ge/ubuntu/pool/main/g/gtk+2.0/libgtk2.0-0_2.10.11-0ubuntu3_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i libgtk2.0-0_2.10.11-0ubuntu3_i386.deb

different architecture builds can be found here:
http://ubuntu.dlf.ge/ubuntu/pool/main/g/gtk+2.0/ and many other
repositories.

this workaround also fixes the bug with OpenOffice application crashing
on start.

2007-08-20 Thread Dax Solomon Umaming
Checked issue and now confirming it. Changing Status to Confirmed and
Importance to Medium since there's no existing workaround other than use
Firefox or SeaMonkey.
I also got the exact same issue. It seems that the plugin only supports GTK
browsers.

Here's a thread from the Opera List regarding v9 and problems with flash
http://list.opera.com/pipermail/opera-linux/2007-February/009463.html

[Bug 131212] Re: [gutsy] opera slow down/crash when browsing a page with flash (non-free) content

2007-08-20 Thread AdrianTM
I confirm, Opera with plugins turned on is unusable in Gutsy whernever I
open a page that has Flash (and most of the sites now have), while in
Feisty it works (albeit poorly but at least it doesn't maximixe CPU
usage).

[Bug 131212] Re: [gutsy] opera slow down/crash when browsing a page with flash (non-free) content

2007-08-20 Thread metaph3r
Same here. I cannot use flash in Opera at all. When I open a webpage
with flash content the operapluginwrap process stays at high cpu usage
for some seconds and then disappears. The place of the flash content is
then all grey. This happens with the Opera version provided by the
commercial canonical repository for feisty and the download version and
with both the nonfree flash plugin from the repositories as well as the
download version.
