[Bug 1312782] Re: syscrash on 'Enable Wireless'

2014-05-01 Thread aa212121
The above link doesn't exist so I tried to install v3.15=rc2-trusty. I
installed the image file but couldn't install the header file in the
package. Software Center and cmd-line-install gave me 'Dependency is not
satisfiable' error.

[Bug 1312782] Re: syscrash on 'Enable Wireless'

2014-05-01 Thread aa212121
I did a test run without installing the header files for the kernel
v3.15-rc2-trusty . The mainline kernel fixed the bug.

[Bug 1312782] Re: syscrash on 'Enable Wireless'

2014-04-30 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.15 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.

apport information

** Description changed:

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS with kernel version : Linux anish-pc
  3.5.0-45-generic #68~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Dec 4 16:18:46 UTC 2013
  x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux. My computer is Toshiba Satellite
  C655-S5501.

  Possible package : Linux

Since I updated to kernel version 3.5.0-46, I've been having problems
with 'Enable Wireless'.Whenever I turn on 'Enable Wireless', I get a
syscrash and have to hard reset my laptop. This happens 9/10 times.
Sometimes it doesn't crash and I can use my computer without any
problems. Sometimes, it doesn't crash when I enable wireless, but then
if I turn off the wireless and reset it, it occurs again. This problem
only exists for kernel version 3.5.0-46 to 3.5.0-48. Previous kernel
versions do not have this problem and so I'm using kernel version
3.5.0-45 as it is stable for me.

- This problem first occurred when I updated to kernel version 3.5.0-46.
- When I was updating, I lost my internet connection for 10-15 sec and
- after regaining it, update-manager continued updating. I thought these
- crashes may have been caused because of this and so I waited to new
- kernel updates in the hope that this problem will get solved. But that
- didn't happen for next kernel updates : 3.5.0-47/48.

[Bug 1312782] Re: syscrash on 'Enable Wireless'

2014-04-25 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1312782/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
