Sorry for creating this confusion but my colleague has the same hardware and Ubuntu 14.04 running. Would it work if I tried on that machine? Sorry, bu in the meanwhile I have upgraded my machine :) I no longer have the earlier one so it won't be possible for me to do what you are saying.
