Public bug reported: The problem: Starting usbview from the Dash or terminal gives the following error: "Can not open the file /sys/kernel/debug/usb/devices
Verify that you have USB compiled into your kernel, have the USB core modules loaded, and have the usbdevfs filesystem mounted. " Because of this, the program is not usable at all. However, the problem is not related to anything described in that error, since usbview simply needs root privileges to run. The solution: Run usbview with gksu. The fix: Add gksu as a dependency of usbview and modify the usbview.desktop command to add gksu.
