[Bug 1348422] Re: system frozen after resume from hibernation. Had to power off

2014-07-27 Thread Teo
I think you missed this part:

Now please don't tell me to install a bios update until there's a
decent way to install it seamlessly from Ubuntu itself, without relying
on freedos, flashrom, creating a windows repair disk and whatnot.

If you expect bug victims -pardon- users to install bios updates in
order to help you fix bugs, you should provide an easier way to install
them.

Also, unless you have a strong reason to think that the issue is
*caused* (*caused*, not just triggered) by a bug in the bios that has
been fixed in the update (which I doubt), then testing it against the
bios update should not be a requirement to investigate and fix the issue
in Ubuntu.

Well, then I guess this will stay incomplete forever until it expires,
as usual.

[Bug 1348422] Re: system frozen after resume from hibernation. Had to power off

2014-07-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Teo, as per http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers an update to your BIOS
is available (2.21). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it
doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report. As well, you don't have to create a new
bug report.

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Thank you for your understanding.
