Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. The compiz program that we currently use in Ubuntu is a C++ re-write of the original compiz and was announced the 4th July 2010. Therefore, the bugs that were reported before that date, will be marked as "Won't Fix" as they probably exist in the original program which is not stored in launchpad. I'm not sure if this will be helpful, but... There's another problem with Wine and a memory access violation and a workaround for this problem is to disable ptrace protection with echo 0 | sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope I noticed that running this command fixes the menu bar problem as well. Complete up2date, 10.10. Suffered from this on a clean install of karmic. (with gqview) legacy fullscreen was _not_ ticked, as travis indicated in #22, and ticking it made this problem go away. I suffer this bug too. I have Ubuntu Karmic and ATI Radeon Mobility X1350 (free drivers). When I run a full-screen game through wine and I have compiz enable, the top panel persists. Legacy fullscreen is the default, karmic users don't need to enable it. As far as I'm aware the only people seeing this bug at this point should be some ati users.
