@thad-fisch No the second time I ran it, Firefox didn't crash and the window manager was OK. The icons are still missing though. Most likely not related to the actual problem, but you could try to fix the Gtk message first (bug 1134202). The next step is to install a more recent version of xfwm4 and test again. Does xfwm4 --replace always crash Firefox and break the window manager? Martin, is there a reason why your system boots with an old kernel version? Ubuntu 14.04 installs version 3.13 by default. Back to the icon bug. When does this bug occur exactly?
