[Bug 1401789] Re: gramps package is missing dependencies

2015-05-13 Thread Ross Gammon
Okay - gpxviewer has now been removed from Vivid and Wily. This has allowed the
latest version of osm-gps-map to move from proposed to released.
I had previously arranged for a backport to Trusty, and yesterday I prepared a
backport for Utopic which is just waiting for sponsorship.
Then we should have all missing Gramps dependencies back in all the latest
Ubuntu releases! All that is needed is to manually install them.

[Bug 1401789] Re: gramps package is missing dependencies

2015-05-12 Thread Ross Gammon
Thanks David.
For the record, it was only possible to install gir1.2-osmgpsmap-1.0 in Trusty
if you had the backports repository enabled.

[Bug 1401789] Re: gramps package is missing dependencies

2015-04-04 Thread David Fraser
On trusty, I simply ran apt-get install gir1.2-gexiv2-0.10
gir1.2-gtkspell3-3.0 python-pil rcs graphviz-doc libosmgpsmap-dev
python3-bsddb3 python-pygoocanvas gir1.2-goocanvas-2.0-9 python-pyexiv2
python-osmgpsmap gir1.2-osmgpsmap-1.0 libosmgpsmap-1.0-0 following
http://linuxforums.org.uk/index.php?topic=11784.0 and gramps now starts
up without the error

[Bug 1401789] Re: gramps package is missing dependencies

2015-03-07 Thread Ross Gammon
This was the case for Utopic, and is still the case for Vivid. The latest
osmgpsmap is not available for Gramps because gpxviewer still depends on the
old version:

[Bug 1401789] Re: gramps package is missing dependencies

2015-02-21 Thread Kumbarov
I am experiencing the same problem in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with gramps 4.0.3
+dfsg-2ubuntu1. I know that gramps still works but it is not very nice
to see these error messages.

[Bug 1401789] Re: gramps package is missing dependencies

2014-12-13 Thread Ross Gammon
Thanks for reporting this.

Just in case you are not aware, Gramps can work perfectly fine without
these two optional dependencies. If you do not need to work with the
metadata of media objects within Gramps, just place a tick in the
GExiv2 warning that pops up and the message will not appear the next
time you start Gramps. If you do not record the latitude and longitude
for each place you enter in Gramps, and don't use the Geography view to
see where each place is on a map, then you can do the same with the
OsmGpsMap message.

If you would like to work with media metadata within Gramps, just
install the gir1.2-gexiv2-0.10 package.

Unfortunately, if you would like to use the Geography View, it is not so easy.
I am working on backporting the required package from the Ubuntu Development
release (Vivid which will become 15.04):
https://bugs.launchpad.net/utopic-backports/+bug/1388215
If you can't wait, you could try installing the relevant gir1.2-osmgpsmap-1.0
*.deb from vivid proposed:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/osm-gps-map

Cheers,
Ross
