The problem there is that clicking on the x should actually exit it and not closing it. I see nothing with the words Exit BOINC manager anywhere in the application. It's not in the menu, not in any of the tabs, and not in the unity right click menu. Sorry I'm the debian and ubuntu maintainer, I was experiencing this bug something like one year ago, I reported it upstream, and they fixed it. I tried again yesterday and it was reproducible. I thought it was a regression, Unfortunately I did test yesterday a bad version, and I can't reproduce again (I'm test building some developer version and backports with the new wxwidgets, bugs are normal there) So in the advanced view (also in the simple one) you have in the File menu something like close window that actually minimizes it, and an Exit that actually asks you if it should only exit the manager or also stop computing (the message goes away as soon as you click don't show again). Maybe unity is behaving differently, I use ubuntu with gnome.
