This is likely a duplicate of Bug #121653. FGLRX doesn't support 2.6.23,
which could really mean "doesn't support the new SLUB allocator" (which
Ubuntu uses in 2.6.22).

2007-10-17 Thread Darin Barnes
Hmmm I'm getting slightly different results when I set my computer into Resume
and Hibernate.
Resume will not give me a blinking cursor or lag out. It will perform the
identical action of "Lock Screen."
Hibernate does throw me to a blinking cursor for about 5 seconds. Then it will
go to the "Lock Screen" and also have a Keyring password prompt on top of that.

Both modes do not force me to restart.

I also now notice that after it fails to suspend it seems to cause a

I also have the blinking cursor problem on my PC running Ubuntu Gusty
and the fglrx driver from ATI website (8.40.4) on a ATI Radeon X1600
graphic card.

Like someone said earlier in this report, when gdm is turn off in terminal,
suspend to ram works perfectly.
Could this problem be link to gdm? (Does someone on Kubuntu have this bug?)
Or is there a way to tell Ubuntu to stop gdm before suspend (and start it back
when resuming)? I know there is a "STOP_SERVICES" variable in
/etc/default/acpi-support, but if I put gdm in stop_services, nothing is
changed while suspend to ram.

I can post the different logs if you need them.

P.S.: When gdm is stopped, the computer hibernate well (resume is another
thing, but at least I don't have the blinking cursor...)

[Bug 140766] Re: Suspend not working on Inspiron 6400 (gutsy)

2007-10-10 Thread Shoofy
I'm seeing the same problems with an Inspiron E1505. Suspend just stops
either with the screen turned off or with a blank screen and a blinking
cursor. A hard reboot is required in either case. Suspend worked
reasonably reliably on Feisty on this machine. I seem to remember
getting a successful suspend on Gutsy before installing fglrx and xgl
(both the repo versions). I'm not really in the mood to uninstall those
now that I have compiz fusion and awn working nicely for me.

I'm not sure that's the same bug, considering you are actually able to
resume. The suspending process does not even complete here, hard-locking the
system (requiring 5 seconds on the power button to turn off).

[Bug 140766] Re: Suspend not working on Inspiron 6400 (gutsy)

2007-09-18 Thread Brian Murray
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description doesn't yet
have enough information.
Please include as attachments the following additional information, if you have
not already done so (please pay attention to lspci's additional options), as
required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command 'uname -a' in your next response.
It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version
you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command 'dmesg > dmesg.log' and attach the resulting file
'dmesg.log' to this bug report.
3. Please run the command 'sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log' and attach the
resulting file 'lspci-vvnn.log' to this bug report.
For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-related bug
reports is available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies . Thanks
in advance!
