[Bug 1417826] Re: display acting up. overlay .. ?

2015-05-05 Thread Morten Hundevad
Ether it is coincidence scrolling issue is gone as it randomly seems to
be other times after reboot. or it is related. to the status bar.

It is late so i need to go to bed i can try disable it tomorrow and see
if it returns.

But enable auto hide and i do NOT have side ways scrolling issue.

Is there anything more info i can provide. this issue is really a pain
in the behind =(

[Bug 1417826] Re: display acting up. overlay .. ?

2015-05-05 Thread Morten Hundevad
Now here is the same thing, again but where it is set to display on both
screens (DEFAULT)

on the external monitor (left) you can see that the browser is UNDER the
lancher bar AND if you also look you can see the top of the browser is
missing as well it is UNDER the top system bar", this was ALSO not in
14.04 but was also in 14.10 and also here in 15.04 (i dont remember how
it fixed it but apparently this was wiped when i reset compiz).

So i must have changed something else i forgot.

So to sum up

i now have constant scrolling side ways behavior.
still without fix in plase the display is incorrect.

-Thanks

2015-05-05 Thread Morten Hundevad
well i did what you asked and tried GNOME Flashback (compiz) and the
error is kind of also there. not excactly the same but very similar.

only differance seems to be that the cursor seems to match the grafic
but grafics is distorted.

Now after switching back to unity every thing is foo baa and i cant make
it work again (SIDE WAYS SCROLLING ISSUE, is now constant even after
several reboots) =( . i have tried to reset compiz to no change.

i have taken some screen shots showing another strange behavior that may
or may not be relevant.

screen shots to follow in next few posts with description

2015-05-04 Thread Morten Hundevad
Well this one also came back after this switch to gonme and back

(Reboot fixed it again)

You can see the cursor is on both monitor, and the left monitor scrolls
sideways to also display right monitor content on the left.

--GOME TEST
NOTES--
Error did not happen in gnome, but i now remember why i cant use gnome.

If a move window to laptop monitor and try to maximize it it will be
moved to left monitor and be large there. (Same thing go for flash and
games and video in full screen) get get it ti sick on "Right monitor"

If monitor's position is switched position of the problem is also
switched. (meaning that full screen is ALWAYS left regardless if it is
build in monitor or external in that location.)

[Bug 1417826] Re: display acting up. overlay .. ?

2015-05-03 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Morten Hundevad, a few questions:
+ Could you please advise how precisely are you manually configuring dual
monitors? If a file, please attach it in full, verbatim.
+ With nouveau, despite the performance degradation, and mouse streaking, is
the originally reported issue still occurring > "sometimes both screens are on
the same monitor and it scrolls sideways"?
+ When you disable the discrete card (you have both a discrete and integrated)
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee does this provide a WORKAROUND?

[Bug 1417826] Re: display acting up. overlay .. ?

2015-05-03 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Description changed:

- display acting up.
+ With nvidia 331.113 I have to manually configure dual screen layout (by
+ doing what precisely?). However, if I remove this manually configured
+ layout it fails.
+
+ With this WORKAROUND in place, sometimes both screens are on the same
+ monitor and it scrolls sideways (may be due to manual configuration
+ error).
+
+ tested nvidia 346 same thing.
+
+ With nvidia 304 my second monitor stopped working.
+
+ With nouveau the mouse cursor is streaking, and the performance isn't as
+ good as nvidia.

[Bug 1417826] Re: display acting up. overlay .. ?

2015-05-02 Thread Morten Hundevad
Not sure how to recreate it. I am using default system.

I have not installed many extra things other than few php and android
developing tools and play on linux and steam and things of that nature.

compizconfig -> general -> display settings -> Register output

by default this is checked (detect_outputs)

if i check this then the error happens where monitor 1 and two "over
lap". and appear as one.

I have to manually configure outputs

tested 346 same thing

after then trying 304 my second monitor no totaly stopped working.

2015-05-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Morten Hundevad, to rule out a nvidia regression, could you please test
nvidia 304 from the Ubuntu repositories (not downloaded directly from
nvidia's website) as per
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia and advise if
this is reproducible?

Morten Hundevad, does this issue occur in you are using either nouveau
or just the integrated card (i.e. disable discrete card in BIOS)?

[Bug 1417826] Re: display acting up. overlay .. ?

2015-04-30 Thread Morten Hundevad
I am using a laptop do only have one card, I am using nvidia driver
because I need 3d acceleration.

I have to use comprez (may be wrong spelling)

To manually definitely dual screen layout, if I remove this manually
configured layout it fails. Constant.

With fix in place I sometimes get odd behavior where both screens are on
the same monitor and it scrolls sideways. (this could of cause be error
in my manually config method)

Do this awnser you'r question?

[Bug 1417826] Re: display acting up. overlay .. ?

2015-02-28 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Morten Hundevad, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1417826

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
