Well, I have to apologize. I have searched around on the internet and found a solution. I tried it and it fixed my problems and now everything is back to normal! It took me a couple of tries before I understood, but, I tried the Alt = F4 route, then selected xfwm4. FF just updated, but still have the same results. FF doesn't auto-fill user names like it used to. VLC cannot be moved around on the desktop.
