Public bug reported: While trying to get a proper display without high heat on an Optimus laptop, I installed then uninstalled nvidia driver. On uninstalling, apt complained about nvidia-persistenced that was running, and indeed it was true. Manually killing the process allowed to finally uninstall the package.
