We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com) If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log? Thanks in advance. To have this bug be the master for several duplicate bugs and then mark it invalid is not helpful. Xinerama should work just fine with Compiz on a NVIDIA card, unless someone can update this bug with the definitive URL that states anything different, preferably from the official NVIDIA documentation site. I'm not able to find anything that states Xinerama with Compiz on NVIDIA does not work/not supported. Once the bug is updated with this documentation then mark it Invalid with a proper explanation and backup documentation for others to reference as they hit this issue. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but without xinerama you can't use two different (resolution) monitors attached to two different nvidia cards. Twinview is no were near xinerama stuff. it's like xinerama, but not equivalent. You get some nice features such as the ability to attach the second monitor and configure it without restarting X or fiddling the xorg. I'm sure I used Xinerama with compiz (or perhaps beryl) on this very machine before (I've had two monitors for a while, and TwinView really sucks for me). You cannot use Xinerama with nvidia. They do not support it and it does not work with compiz.
