[Bug 1442908] Re: Realtek RTL8723BE wireless card drops connection in Linux kernel 3.19.0-13
The same behaviour (problem) on my Lenovo M30-70 with rtl8723be wifi. I am using Kernel 3.19.0-17-generic on Ubuntu 15.04, latest Bios. I tried many workarounds from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1320070 but no change, the connection is lost after a while. Finally I tried the rtlwifi_new driver from https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83641#c1. I first thoght it works stable but after a while it also loses the connection (see my comment there). After reconnect it works for a while again. ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #83641 http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83641 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1442908 Title: Realtek RTL8723BE wireless card drops connection in Linux kernel 3.19.0-13 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1442908/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1442908] Re: Realtek RTL8723BE wireless card drops connection in Linux kernel 3.19.0-13
Hello. I have a Ralink with RT2561/RT61 chip. In Kubuntu 15.04 my connection is very unstable using NetworkManager, but with Wicd my connection is stable. Could you try Wicd? The problem is that in Kubuntu 15.04 is not possible uninstall network-manager because it also uninstalled plasma-desktop. To test you should do: $ sudo apt-get install wicd wicd-gtk During installation it will ask you to add your user to the group netdev. $ sudo pkill -9 NetworkManager Start wicd from menu internet. If it does not start, you do: $ sudo rm /var/run/wicd/wicd.pid and try again. You note that Wicd does not automatically detect the encryption mode for your network. You must choose the password type from propierties. Probabily if you use WEP you should choose Wep (Passphrase), or if it Wpa you choose WPA 1/2 (Hex [0-9/A-F]). Also note that wicd connects to internet but will not tell you that you're connected, you try from the browser to know you are connected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1442908 Title: Realtek RTL8723BE wireless card drops connection in Linux kernel 3.19.0-13 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1442908/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

octavio bernal quiroz, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed.
