[Bug 144481] Re: Can't mount hfs CD-ROM

2008-07-17 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

[Bug 144481] Re: Can't mount hfs CD-ROM

2008-08-10 Thread lubosz
i get the same error when trying to mount a mac hfs disc image.

sudo mount -t hfs -o loop Mac\ Test\ Disc.cue /media/cdrom0/

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop0,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
   dmesg | tail or so

i attached the images generated with toast. there is a file Tux.svg on
them. if you can mount it, you got it ^^

[Bug 144481] Re: Can't mount hfs CD-ROM

2008-08-10 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
I've done the following test:
- Create an HFS archive with mkisofs
mkisofs -hfs -hfs-unlock -probe -V "My Stuff" -o stuff.hfs /tmp/*

- mount it as an HFS image
mkdir ./hfstest/
sudo mount -t hfs ./stuff.hfs ./hfstest/ -o loop

You can also use hfsutils to manipulate this volume. This only shows that hfs
is working but I still don't know why your media is not recognized.
I've also tried to convert your image from bin/cue to iso format with bchunk
but no success either :(

I'm not sure this is a bug and it would make more sense to raise
problems you are having in the support tracker at
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu or on the forum.

Hi lubosz,

One other thing you might want to try is to confirm if this this is
still an issue with the latest Alpha for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex
8.10. You should be able to test via a LiveCD -
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing. If the issue still exists, please attach
and updated dmesg output which captures any related error messages.
Thanks in advance.

[Bug 144481] Re: Can't mount hfs CD-ROM

2008-09-05 Thread OAM
Hello All.

I am trying to open an Apple .DMG file on my Ubuntu box and getting no
where fast. I am essentially seeing the same errors as those posted
above so i will cut to the chase and give you the raw details.

For what its worth this could be an issue with the DMG file itself as it
is the Apple Xcode 3.1 package. I am attempting to get the needed files
from it for my Cross-build toolchain.

The file opens on OS-X 10.5.4 (PPC) *BUT!!* once the DMG file opens
there is a specific PKG file that I need to extract some more files
from, and OS-X is being difficult in that regards.

I have tried using the hfsutils to manipulate the file, but i think i
might have had my syntax wrong.

I am open to suggestions.

Below are my system details and error messages as i am seeing them.

uname -a
Linux local.local 2.6.24-19-server #1 SMP Wed Aug 20 23:54:28 UTC 2008 i686

[Bug 144481] Re: Can't mount hfs CD-ROM

2008-08-29 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

[Bug 144481] Re: Can't mount hfs CD-ROM

2008-12-18 Thread Stephen Phillips
I had the same problem with the Java FX download for Mac. Sun does not
yet offer a version for Linux, and I read that the Mac version works on
Linux for certain things. This might be helpful because anyone can open
download the file and test.

Here are some details--

Downloaded from:

Now, I still have a few things to check. I haven't tried on Intrepix
Ibex yet. I also just now noticed that the file type says bzip instead
of what OMG posted.

I hope this helps. I just thought having a file that everyone could
test with would help.

[Bug 144481] Re: Can't mount hfs CD-ROM

2008-12-18 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Just to make things clear. A .dmg file is a disk image and treated on
Mac like a real disk. The DMG file comes in different formats: HFS,
HFS+, UFS, ProDOS, Linux, and Fat32 and so may also require special
mounting software to account for the format. So DMG doesn't mean HFS.

The proof the Philipp case. The file command clearly tells that the type
is "bzip2 compressed data" . You just have to uncompress the dmg file
with bzip2 then mount the resulting file which is of type hfsplus in
this case.

$ bunzip2 javafx_sdk-1_0-macosx-universal.dmg
$ sudo mount -t hfsplus ./javafx_sdk-1_0-macosx-universal.dmg.out /mnt -o loop
$ ls /mnt
javafx_sdk-1_0.mpkg

VoilĂ .

I'm closing this report because there is no obvious bug here until
someone can provide a valid hfs archive to test with.

Don't hesitate to submit any new bug.

[Bug 144481] Re: Can't mount hfs CD-ROM

2008-12-19 Thread Stephen Phillips
Jean-Baptiste Lallement,

Thank you for the help. I was following these instructions:
http://baghira.sourceforge.net/dmg.htm

Furthermore, I found another great howto that has exactly what I wanted to do
(which is what you posted, too):
http://www.weiqigao.com/blog/2008/12/04/using_javafx_1_0_on_linux.html

Sorry about the redundant post -- I didn't see this post when I first
started tinkering with JavaFX and Googling for answers.

Thanks,

Stephen
