Public bug reported: I have the following 4 port USB 3 PCI-e bus/controller device: 03:00.0 USB controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VL80x xHCI USB 3.0 Controller (rev 03)
If I connect my LUKS encrypted WD 1 TB external HDD device, using an USB 3 cable, it will freeze the computer, or won't boot, if it was plugged in. If I don't plug anything to that USB 3 bus, it will not make any trouble, so the PCI-e card itself is not a problematic, what's more, it is working exactly the same setup for Windows 7. Furthermore, other USB 2 Linux laptop can use it without problems. On boot time, it writes something like "write cache is missing". Should I add something to /etc/fstab, or how can this be solved?
