[Bug 1456596] Re: DELL XPS 13 (9343) Strange, seemingly perpetual repeat of drm activity
Christopher, I am not sure I understand, what exactly you want. On the kernels which I have tried so far, I got these results: (bad=the bug exists as reported here, good= that bug NOT present) 3.13.0-52-generic bad 3.13.0.53-generic bad 3.16.0-37-generic bad 3.16.0.38-generic bad 3.19.0-18-generic good 4.1-rc4 --- good (but wl module did not build) I am staying with kernel 3.19 for the time being - does not seem to have severe regressions over the other kernels :-/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1456596 Title: DELL XPS 13 (9343) Strange, seemingly perpetual repeat of drm activity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1456596/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1456596] Re: DELL XPS 13 (9343) Strange, seemingly perpetual repeat of drm activity
ullix, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 3.19 to 4.1-rc4 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this commit has been identified, then it may be reviewed as a candidate for backporting into your release. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Also, you would have to uninstall the bcmwl module for the duration of the bisect so proprietary module errors are avoided. Thank you for your understanding. I did install the kernel 4.1.0-rc2 and rc3 but could not not create the wl module from bcmwl-kernel-source so I stopped any further tests ** Tags added: kernel-unable-to-test-upstream ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1456596 Title: DELL XPS 13 (9343) Strange, seemingly perpetual repeat of drm activity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1456596/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1456596] Re: DELL XPS 13 (9343) Strange, seemingly perpetual repeat of drm activity
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.1 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance.
