Probably all the crash of lxappearance are related to the ongoing migration to openbox 3.6. I have updated an older Lubuntu Wily installation -which had no lxappearance problems-, but witholding LXDE GTK+ theme switcher (plugin). I have removed the lxappearance-obconf package and then lxappearnce launches.
