That was my way: Deinstall with Synaptic dasher-data and dasher 4.6.0; Download dasher 4.4.1 (dasher-data & dasher) from: rpmseek.com Install with GDebi first dasher-data then dasher... works... it catch the words right away! Language switching result still in a program crash. I confirm all the comments! Could this be a configuration problem of dasher? All that the app not does, is catching the written words from left-hand side of the screen. After inputting "The quick brown fox", the program consistently stops scrolling towards new letters. I have downloaded the 4.6.0 version of dasher from the dasher website and it shows this bug, ie this is not caused by anything ubuntu has done. The version in the ubuntu repositories is 4.6.0. The latest stable release is 4.6.2. I downloaded and compiled that source from the dasher website and it does not have this bug. I tested 4.2.1, it also does not show this bug. I can confirm this problem. I'm attaching a screencast of me using dasher that shows this bug. I'm trying to enter "This is a test of dasher". It gets stuck just after "of". From my memory I don't think it get stuck after the same number of characters. I can confirm this too. Dasher worked consistently in feisty. Upgraded to gutsy yesterday, and now dasher is crippled.
