[Bug 147864] Re: Profanity in error message

2007-10-02 Thread Fabián Rodríguez
These two links may help finding out more about rootkits and cleaning
them up:

http://cayfer.bilkent.edu.tr/~cayfer/linux/Detecting_and_Removing_Rootkits.html
http://forums.theplanet.com/index.php?showtopic=34935

Looking for information about installling and using chkrootkit in Ubuntu
may also help. There is a search engine for all Ubuntu-related sites, in
beta, at http://www.uboontu.com/ - Please note the Uboontu Search Engine
is not related or associated with Canonical Ltd. or Google Inc., it only
makes use of the resources made freely available by them. It is built
and updated cooperatively by community members.

Also take a look at a few tools you can use in the future:

Should be an easy fix? At least it would be nice to have it escalated
upstream.

2007-10-01 Thread yamal
Indeed this is from the SucKIT rootkit; the ostentatious usage of the
f-word in error messages is a real giveaway. Pull the network cable
please, your system has been compromised.

2007-10-01 Thread Dax Solomon Umaming
Thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. However, this
is a rootkit, not a bug.
See: http://seclists.org/incidents/2003/Oct/0071.html
I am closing this bug as Invalid.
