[Bug 1479630] Re: r8169 appears to have stopped working between 3.13.0-57 and 3.13.0-58

2015-09-12 Thread Sean McCauliff
The page I was referred to contains the BIOS images for revision 1.0 of
this motherboard. The actual motherboard is rev 4.0. As far as I can
tell the BIOS does not contain the revision information for the
motherboard. The only way of getting the revision number was to
examine the revision number printed on the motherboard.

The most current version of the this BIOS for rev 4.0 of this
motherboard is is F3, the version being run was F3i (released on
10/07/2014). I upgraded the BIOS to F3 from F3i. The graphical login
is visible, but Ubuntu no longer recognizes any of the USB ports nor
does it recognize the NIC. This happens even when I boot to kernel
version 3.13.0-57.

As I'm not able to get the keyboard to work I can't login. I can't ssh
in because the NIC does not work.

I will try and revert to the previous BIOS version.

[Bug 1479630] Re: r8169 appears to have stopped working between 3.13.0-57 and 3.13.0-58

2015-09-11 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Sean McCauliff, as per http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-
page.aspx?pid=3894#bios an update to your computer's buggy and outdated
BIOS is available (F9). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

I tested v3.13.11-ckt24-trusty and have updated to 3.13.0-61. This
problem remains.

[Bug 1479630] Re: r8169 appears to have stopped working between 3.13.0-57 and 3.13.0-58

2015-07-30 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream stable kernel?
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the
latest v3.13 stable kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.
