Anybody able to reproduce this with Adept 3.0 on the latest Intrepid? ** Changed in: adept (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- description of some packages wrong https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149315 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Confirmed this due to many evidences of this issue, despite I'm unable to reproduce it. Thanks for the collaboration. ** Changed in: adept (Ubuntu) Assignee: Marco Maini (maini10) = (unassigned) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- description of some packages wrong https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149315 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Here's the result of my test with Hardy, the development version. [Bug 149315] Re: description of some packages wrong
The result is not reproducable in most cases, so I don't think the problem is disappeared. If I entered the search string again, I would get the same result as you did. It only happens sometimes. For what it's worth: I think it has something to do with scrolling. If no search string is entered, all packages are listed. As soon as you enter the search string and stop typing, adept filters the list so only packets matching the search string will be listed. In that process of filtering out packets not matching the search string, something goes wrong. -- description of some packages wrong https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149315 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 149315] Re: description of some packages wrong
I feel the need to clarify this: it is no use to test for search strings that cause problems. If you find a string causing a problem, please search again with the exact same search string and the problem will have disappeared. I wish I could help you guys out and try to solve this bug, but I'm afraid my knowledge does not extend beyond shell scripting and some pascal stuff from college. -- description of some packages wrong https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149315 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 149315] Re: description of some packages wrong
To clarify: the screenshot shows me using adept to search for packages. I entered myth as the search string. The first package is called gtk2 -engines-mythbuntu but the description is that of the package harddiskinfo. The package harddiskinfo is however not to be found in this list, but it's description shows up with another package. That's the bug. -- description of some packages wrong https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149315 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 149315] Re: description of some packages wrong
I don't see any packages that doesn't match to the pattern in your screenshot. [Bug 149315] Re: description of some packages wrong
Today I encountered this problem again, while using the search string `myth`. ** Attachment added: adept-error.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10478556/adept-error.png -- description of some packages wrong https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149315 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 149315] Re: description of some packages wrong
Search pattern sync seems cause a problem. In my test libasyncns0 is shown correctly, but libclanlib2c2a is shown with the same description and doesn't match the pattern. Please try if other patterns cause problem. Thanks. -- description of some packages wrong https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149315 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 149315] Re: description of some packages wrong
The problem is indeed random. I think it only occurs when Adept shows a list of packages matching a given search pattern in the search box. When the bug occurs, the description is displayed twice, once for a package matching the search and once for another package not matching the search. Using the example from the screenshot, when one enters sync as the search pattern, the list of packages is reduced to a list of package matching the search string. In the process of reducing the listed packages, one can see packages disappear, that do not match the search pattern. The bug not only includes showing the wrong description of a package, but also showing a package not matching the search. In fact, the package with the wrong description should never have been in the list. This can be confirmed by using sync as the search pattern. Note that the amule-common package is not in the list, but the screenshot I took earlier did show that package. I hope this information helps you finding the bug. When I know more, I'll let you know. -- description of some packages wrong https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149315 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I don't see the problem reported in my Pc. Do you still have this problem? Have you edited /etc/apt/sources.list or another configuration file? Have you other packages with this problem? Thanks. ** Summary changed: - pppoe package description wrong + description of some packages wrong ** Changed in: adept (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Marco Maini (maini10) Status: New = Incomplete -- description of some packages wrong https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149315 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 149315] Re: description of some packages wrong
The problem continues to appear. As the other notes people have posted indicate this seems to be random. I noticed it again last night with KDE4base. I have not been able to see a pattern is the offsets. On Monday 15 October 2007 05:59:23 am Marco Maini wrote: I don't see the problem reported in my Pc. Do you still have this problem?
