Public bug reported: I have a Thinkpad T520 which I use frequently both undocked and docked with dual monitors. It all works fine when it is first powered on in either configuration, as well as when it awakes from sleep. However, once I switch to the opposite configuration from the initial power-up, I experience brief moments of unresponsiveness. I switch between configurations by entering suspend (sleep), either docking or undocking the laptop, and then returning from suspend mode.
The unresponsiveness is most often triggered by tooltips appearing in any program, and the system remains unresponsive until the tooltip disappears. The behavior may occur for other types of windows or UI components, but I can't say for certain. When I'm experiencing this issue, the mouse moves and most screen updates still happen (It will cause most video playback to pause, however). However, mouse clicks and typing are ignored or queued up. I'm using Ubuntu 15.04, with the nvidia-355 binary driver. I've used other versions of the nvidia driver, and they have all exhibited this behavior or had other issues. I don't recall having this issue with 14.10, but I can't confirm it. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1494092 Title: After docking/undocking, tooltips cause the UI to become briefly unresponsive To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1494092/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
