[Bug 1494092] Re: After docking/undocking, tooltips cause the UI to become briefly unresponsive

2015-09-10 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.2 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1494092] Re: After docking/undocking, tooltips cause the UI to become briefly unresponsive

2015-09-09 Thread Troy Jacobson
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected vivid

** Description changed:

I have a Thinkpad T520 which I use frequently both undocked and docked
with dual monitors. It all works fine when it is first powered on in
either configuration, as well as when it awakes from sleep. However,
once I switch to the opposite configuration from the initial power-up, I
experience brief moments of unresponsiveness. I switch between
configurations by entering suspend (sleep), either docking or undocking
the laptop, and then returning from suspend mode.

The unresponsiveness is most often triggered by tooltips appearing in
any program, and the system remains unresponsive until the tooltip
disappears. The behavior may occur for other types of windows or UI
components, but I can't say for certain. When I'm experiencing this
issue, the mouse moves and most screen updates still happen (It will
cause most video playback to pause, however). However, mouse clicks and
typing are ignored or queued up.

- I'm using Ubuntu 15.04, with the nvidia-355 binary driver. I've used
- other versions of the nvidia driver, and they have all exhibited this
- behavior or had other issues. I don't recall having this issue with
- 14.10, but I can't confirm it.
