Alex, it will help immensely if you filed a new report with the Ubuntu repository kernel (not mainline/upstream) via a terminal: ubuntu-bug linux Please feel free to subscribe me to it. [Bug 1495458] Re: Black screen when resuming after sleep
I think the cause might be the broadcom driver. I have the same issue with a broadcom driver on the BCM4352. [Bug 1495458] Re: Black screen when resuming after sleep
Gaston M. Tonietti, the reason you didn't get a response would be because the root causing wasn't deep enough to conclude much. To advise, the root causing procedures are now much more in-depth. [Bug 1495458] Re: Black screen when resuming after sleep
I've tried suspending with pm-suspend, shutting the lid and pressing the power button as both are set to suspend in power management settings. And I tried resuming opening the lid and pressing the power button. All methods with the same result, the laptop is suspended but when I want to resume the power light turns on but the screen is black and I cannot connect over ssh either. So it's worse than a graphics related issue. Following the steps in DebuggingKernelSuspend page I was able to resume after suspending with the command: `sudo sh -c "sync && echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace && pm-suspend"` WiFi wasn't enable after resuming but I was able to enable it manually . I'm attaching my *wakeup* and *dmesg* as advised by the debugging guide. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1495458 Title: Black screen when resuming after sleep To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1495458/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1495458] Re: Black screen when resuming after sleep
Gaston M. Tonietti, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, Y, and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. I can reproduce the error ALWAYS, when I put the laptop to sleep it wont resume, I can see the power light and the keyboard backlight turning on as if it will wake up, but then just a black screen. I cannot even switch to a terminal (Ctr+Alt+F1), the only solution it to restart. The problem is not only when sleeping, it also happens when the screen is turned off by Power Management.
