[Bug 1509622] Re: Xorg crash

2017-03-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Thomas Mayer (thomas303), it will help immensely if you filed a new report with
Ubuntu by ensuring you have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click
the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information running the
following from a terminal:
ubuntu-bug xorg

Also, please feel free to subscribe me to it.

For more on why this is helpful, please see

[Bug 1509622] Re: Xorg crash

2017-03-02 Thread Thomas Mayer
I'm getting this error for 16.04, since upgrading to latest HWE Kernel
4.8.0-39. Note that I also updated the Xorg packages to

xserver-xorg-*-hwe-16.04.

On top of that, I can also confirm that I get the error message

"Invalid core dump: BFD: Warning: /tmp/apport_core_aiu21o8t
is truncated: expected core file size"

That message is reported after every reboot.

[Bug 1509622] Re: Xorg crash

2015-11-13 Thread Vindicator
OK, I was going to publish a new bug report last night after it happened
again with Kodi (bios update didn't fix it), but I got a notice of new
updates which included a kernel 4.2-19 and display manager update, so
hopefully it is a known issue that was fixed there.

[Bug 1509622] Re: Xorg crash

2015-11-09 Thread Vindicator
I've encountered this issue twice today.
I had done a clean 15.10 install perhaps ~2 weeks ago and this is the first day
such an event occurred.

I too use Chrome, HOWEVER, I found it happened first when I was using Kodi 16.
I do see an update from my ASRock H97M-ITX/ac 1.70 in May to an August 1.80
which I'll try, but considering I had not had the issue in 15.04, I have my
doubts.

There is no consistency I can see in each occurrence.

[Bug 1509622] Re: Xorg crash

2015-10-25 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Paul Gear, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

As per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-
netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x230 an update to your
computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2.65). If you update to
this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it
change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the
information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New.
Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.
