I am also experiencing this after an upgrade to 15.10. Sadly, I've found out that this is more of a GVFS problem than Geany's. I have the same behaviour - gedit works so I can open in that and then copy to geany to edit as I prefer that. Hmm, also it displays an error regarding the file or directory doesn't exist if I try to open it directly through Geany.
