[Bug 1522004] Re: [MIR] s390-netdevice
1) It's a d-i component, a binary postinst is not only reasonably, but entirely common. 2) It's a Debian native package, debian/copyright is the only copyright required. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1522004 Title: [MIR] s390-netdevice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/s390-netdevice/+bug/1522004/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1522004] Re: [MIR] s390-netdevice
I cannot create a license/copying file, as the copyright holder / upstream should do that. Filed a Debian bug report, about this, linked. If and when it is fixed it will land in Ubuntu via merge. I do not believe this is in fact critical to track, apart from the BTS bug. Thus this is now complete. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #900993 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=900993 ** Also affects: s390-netdevice (Debian) via https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=900993 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Changed in: s390-netdevice (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1522004 Title: [MIR] s390-netdevice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/s390-netdevice/+bug/1522004/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1522004] Re: [MIR] s390-netdevice
"via a dpkg trigger" -> this is a udeb only package, so no triggers ;-) no transitions, no upgrades ever. i will open a bug in debian about lack of copyright file. But i fear the identified problem is not unique to this udeb, but to other d-i upstream components as well.

"[Standards compliance] Yes... well not sure about binary postinst." -> Yeah, I'm not fan either about that solution. Can't we achieve this more elegantly via a dpkg trigger? That way, we wouldn't fail the whole transition in case we can't compile the module. Also, I think the package should dep on gcc or any involved compiler? Finally, there is no obvious copyright of the file not in debian/ directory. We need to either: - have one GPL2 header into that file (and then, we have an obvious "upstream" copyright - ship a COPYING or LICENSE file. ** Changed in: s390-netdevice (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1522004 Title: [MIR] s390-netdevice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/s390-netdevice/+bug/1522004/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
