Dear Chris, I installed Ubuntu 16.06 and adopted the following
workaround:

i8042.nomux=1 i8042.reset

which allows me to use the touchpad.

Attached please find the output of usb-devices command.

Re: [Bug 1542716] Re: [Fujitsu LIFEBOOK S935] Touchpad doesn't work

2016-04-23 Thread mauribera
..I apologize for the attach, sorry.

Unfortunately no change with the new kernel.

To be more precise, I had the laptop on, pre-booted with the
Win-Installation trick, therefore with the touchpad on. After upgrading
and checking the kernel I re-started the laptop and the touchpad was
still working. Rebooting after a complete shutdown made the thouchpad
dead again.
I am planning to install the 16.04 release.
Will this interfere with your tests?
I am still using my old laptop but with the win-inst workaround I will
soon move to the S935, hoping that sooner or later the problem will be
solved.

Thanks again for your effort, maurizio

[Bug 1542716] Re: [Fujitsu LIFEBOOK S935] Touchpad doesn't work: another clue

2016-04-09 Thread mauribera
Dear Chris,

I run the system testing (in attach the report) and after the suspend
test the touchpad died again. I confirm that loading the driver with the
Win7 installation CD and exiting the installation soon, when Ubuntu
loads from the HD, it uses the driver and the touchpad works. It sounds
very., very strange to me but this is what happens.

Best wishes, maurizio

[Bug 1542716] Re: [Fujitsu LIFEBOOK S935] Touchpad doesn't work, new info

2016-04-06 Thread mauribera
Dear Chris, I installed the latest Kernel and there was no change.
However I have a new info to provide which might help.
I booted the laptop with the Windows 7 installatin CD just to check that
the touchpad was still working. When Windows was ready to start the
installation I canceled it, quickly ejected the CD and the PC moved to
Ubuntu prompt to load the OS and after a few seconds to the Ubuntu log
in page. After this, the touchpad started to work perfectly.
When I re-booted the system from the pre-intalled Ubuntu the touchpad
was dead again.
I made also attempts with live CD of other distributions, e.g., Suse and
Red Hat, without any success.
Apparently Windows loads the driver which is utilized by Ubuntu if load
just after.

Looking forward to hearing form you.
Best regards, maurizio
