@Ben: Thanks for looking into this. We do not run with DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive by default. I would be interessted to get the logs, they probably contain enough information to get a good idea what went wrong. ** Changed in: ion3 (Ubuntu) Assignee: Michael Vogt (mvo) = (unassigned) -- package update-manager 1:0.81 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: SystemError in cache.commit(): E:Sub-process /tmp/tmpgCJnk8/backports/usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155201 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I don't think this is a bug. The ion3 package deliberate disallows non- interactive installation, due to the licence conditions. -- package update-manager 1:0.81 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: SystemError in cache.commit(): E:Sub-process /tmp/tmpgCJnk8/backports/usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155201 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please add the log files from '/var/log/dist- upgrade/' to this bugreport as attachments to your bug report? Ah. Didn't find this one the first time round. I have just added my experiences to bug 129986 which refers to version 0.67, but is otherwise identical.
