Public bug reported: VLC was running fine on 15.10 but since upgrading, video files (e.g. .mp4) play for a few minutes and then crash the whole machine (i.e. I have to power off and on). Possibly linked is that audio (in web pages or playing audio files thru Banshee) loops (stutters) for about a second every few minutes (but doesn't crash the machine).
